LASIK

LASIK, a form of refractive surgery, is an option for vision correction without needing to wear glasses or contact lenses. Simply put, LASIK reshapes the cornea with a laser.

Recently, other surgical alternatives have become available. Among these is a technique called phakic IOL implantation which involves implanting a lens behind the cornea, but in front of the iris. With this new option, many of those who were too highly nearsighted for LASIK are now candidates for refractive surgery.

If you are interested in refractive surgery, please let us know. Refractive surgery is not to be taken lightly. Detailed testing is necessary to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for the surgery. If testing shows you to be a good candidate, we can refer you to our co-management team at Woolfson Eye Institute. In addition, we provide post-operative care for refractive surgery.

Woolfson Eye Institute is a team of world-renowned surgeons and support staff who will guide you every step of the way. This team is one of the only LASIK providers offering multiple laser platforms to provide their patients with a truly customized treatment plan. Woolfson Eye Institute has given over a hundred thousand patients the best vision possible and that is why we choose them for our own patients at Karns Vision Center. Quality patient care is the top priority at Woolfson Eye Institute. It is important to them that they provide their patients with caring and experienced staff that will listen and clearly answer any questions about the surgery.

Woolfson also utilizes the most advanced diagnostic equipment and tools which allow them to identify patients that are not ideal candidates for LASIK but would rather benefit from one of their other treatment options such as PRK, ICL, or Refractive IOL. At Karns Vision Center, we can proudly say that every one of our patients who have gone to Woolfson Eye Institute have never been happier.

Our Latest Technology

Corneal Topographer

Corneal TopographerThe Corneal Topographer gives us a 3D image of the cornea (front surface of the eye) that aids in disease detection and contact lens fitting. This piece of equipment is critical in the diagnosis and management of keratoconus, which is a degenerative disorder of the cornea causing it to thin and become more conical in shape. When determining whether a patient is a candidate for LASIK or any refractive surgery, the corneal topographer is indispensable.
